When a representation is denied, an email is sent to both parties, indicating that the representation has been denied and the reason for it.

In this sense, the most common reasons are:

  • The documentation format is not correct: review the accepted document formats ( How can I register a representation electronically? > documentation to provide for a representation)
  • the content of the documentation does not support the registered representation: review the type of power of attorney granted in the documentation so that it adapts to the types of representations (total, organization or procedures)

Once you have detected and understood the reason for the refusal, you will have to register it again (currently amendments cannot be made to the previous one).

Therefore, you must access the citizenship portal again or go to a citizen service office and re-register the application, again, correcting the error, either with a new attached document or by modifying the characteristics of the requested representation.

If you want more information about the denial, or you disagree with the reasons, you must contact the administration that denied the representation. Once the denial has been clarified, you will need to request representation again, since even if the denial was an error on the part of the administration, it cannot be reversed.
