There are different times when you may need a password or PIN code with your T-CAT. If you don't remember any of them, below we will help you recover them:

I don't remember the "personal code" needed to download the T-CAT P

The personal code is a one-time code that you define at the time of delivery of the certificate together with the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service. This code will be used to download your T-CAT P.

If you believe that you did not define this code when submitting the T-CAT P, speak to the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service, as it is possible that, although it is not the correct procedure, you defined it during submission.

If you defined it yourself and don't remember it, there is no way to recover it (it is done this way for security reasons and only you know it). You will have to contact the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service to request a new T-CAT P.

I don't remember the "management code" necessary to download and install the T-CAT P

The management code is a code that will be used to download and install (password) the T-CAT P.

If you don't remember it , you can find it here:

  • On the delivery sheet given to you by the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service
  • In the email you received with the communication of the codes.
  • You can also recover it by following the steps in How do I recover the T-CAT management code?
I don't remember the "management code" required for the revocation of T-CAT certificates

The management code is a code that will be used to revoke any T-CAT certificate.

If you don't remember it, you can find it here:

  • On the delivery sheet given to you by the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service.
  • In the email you received with the communication of the codes.
  • You can also recover it by following the steps in How do I recover the T-CAT management code?

If you want to know how to revoke the T-CAT you can consult How to revoke my T-CAT?

I don't remember the PIN/PUK of the T-CAT card

The PIN is a numeric security code that protects the use of the digital certificate to ensure that only the certificate holder can use it to sign or authenticate.

The PUK is the personal unblocking code and is used to unlock the digital certificate after the PIN code has been entered incorrectly three times.

If you don't remember them , you can find the original codes here:

  • On the delivery sheet given to you by the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service
  • In the email you received with the notification of the PIN and PUK codes.
  • You can also recover them by following the steps in the section How can I recover the PIN/PUK of the T-CAT .

Please note that only the original certificate codes can be recovered. If you have modified them, only you know them.

I don't remember the PIN (private key) for the T-CAT P

When you install T-CAT P you have the option to add a usage PIN (private key) that will be asked every time you want to identify yourself or sign with the certificate.

You must keep in mind that this PIN is optional and, by default, the T-CAT P is not installed with a PIN.

This code cannot be recovered and if you don't remember it :

  • If you saved the certificate file when you downloaded it (it's a file with a .p12 or .pfx extension), you just need to install it again without a PIN or with a new one that you can easily remember. The code required to install the original file is the management code.
  • If you do not have the original file, you will need to contact the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service to request a new T-CAT P.
I don't remember the password defined during the export of the T-CAT P required for installation on another device.

If you have made an export or backup of your T-CAT P, you will have set a password to protect the installation file.

If you don't remember it :

  • If you still have access to the browser where you have it installed, perform a new export using a secure password that you can easily remember.
  • If you keep the original file you downloaded (it is a file with a .p12 or .pfx extension), you can install it with the "management code" that you have in the email you received or on the delivery slip.
  • If you cannot make a new export (for example, because you no longer have the computer where it was installed), nor do you have the original file, you must keep in mind that:
    • Installation password entry attempts are infinite and unblocked
    • Unable to recover password (it's between you and your computer)
