The duration of the idCAT Certificate is 4 years.

Renewal from the Video-identification website (Spanish ID or TIE)

To obtain a certificate, it is always necessary for a person to validate the identity, therefore, in the case of obtaining it by video identification, an operator will have to review your process. The deadline established for this validation is a maximum of 48 working hours.
Applying for the idCAT via Video-identification entails the revocation of the previous certificate . The revocation will be effective once the identity has been validated (you will receive an email to accept the conditions of issuance; it will be revoked when you accept them)
Make the Request for Video Identification following the steps in How to apply for the idCAT Video Identification Certificate.
Important! Once you complete the entire process, you will need to download and install the certificate.

Renewal in person at a Registration Entity

To renew in person, you can go to any idCAT Certified Registration Entity with your valid identity document.

*According to the General Certification Policy, if more than five years have passed since the last time the holder validated their identity, they will have to validate it again to carry out the renewal. For this reason, the immediate renewal process will only be possible every 5 years.
